Help, how high do I need?

Hello again,

I'm going to put a scope on a Remington 700P rifle, I'm wondering how to determine the proper height a scope ring need? Instead of putting different ring and the scope on the rifle, or there is better way to calculate the height. Is it just a bit more then half of the objective diameter?

What is your scope objective measurement and what rings are you looking at getting?

If i understand your question correctly, im gonna say it depends on how big your objective is, cause if you have a large objective with low rise ring, the objective will most likely be against your barrel or base. My experience with 700 or model 70, I put in a leupold medium height rings which seats my scope at height where the objective is barely above my rifle/barrel. Look in the leupold catelog, Im sure it will answer your question. I just perfer my scope on rifle to sit low as possible without touching each other. Gd luck

Yes, I want to mount the scope as low as possibIe want to mount a scope with 50mm diameter objective, what is the minimum height ring will work on Remington 700p?
