Over the years I've given my grown kids my most effective self defense handguns; a Colt .38 Detective Special to my daughter and the Smith & Wesson 5906 to my son. Although I've held on to a Ruger GP101 .357 for fun shooting I wanted a good self defense handgun of larger caliber.
Finally, last year after mush consideration I purchased the Para Slim Hawg .45 compact in all stainless steel. The combination of caliber, small size as well as the quality manufacture of this US made pistol sold me on the piece.
Although I had to return the new pistol back to the factory for tweaking as the new pistol had too many jams, miss feeds, and failures to eject I have now a reliable and accurate compact .45.
I've obtained a very nice Israeli IWB holster from 7.62 Arms in Alaska and am now considering the addition of a Crimson Trace laser sight system made for this model pistol.
I've watched a number of videos on the efficacy and ease of use of these laser sights and it seems that for the combat role that the self defense pistol has, it would be an effective tool for quick sight picture acquisition and target identification.
I'm looking for other list members who may have positive (or negative) views on laser sights.
