    EOTECH EXPS2-2

I'm just wondering whether the use of a magnifier will affect the zero of the eotech. I zeroed at 25 and when I shot at 100 my shots went up by about 5".
I need some feedback please especially eotech and magnifier users.
    Thanks.

No the magnifier will not affect zero... what is affecting zero is the way the bullet moves.

The common mistake people make is believing bullets fly straight.

BTW you should zero your 223 at least at 50 yards... the trajectory at 25 yards is horrible.

Here's a picture so you can better understand how a bullet travels...

And then here's a trajectory chart of when 223 is zeroed at 25 yards vs 50 yards vs 100 yards.

BTW if you look at the second photo I posted... the red line represents what happens when you zero your 223 at 25 yards... while it'll hit center at 25 yards... as you can see at 100 yards it will hit about 5 inches high.

Hope this opened your mind to the glorious world of shooting past 25 yards.

HK Dave, Thank you very much for your insight. I would be back on the range this week-end and I will re-zero my eotech @ 50 yards.
Will get back to you once i'm done.

            My pleasure.

Lots of folks like to zero at 100. Lots zero at 50 yards.

For an AR with a red dot or eotech... I feel a 50 yard zero is best simply because...

At 25 yards you're 1 inch low, at a 50 yards you're at zero, at 100 yards you're an inch high, at 200 yards, you're close to zero again, at 300 yards, you're at 5 inches low.

In other words, you're pretty flat from 25 yards to 300 yards. If you're engaging beyond those ranges, you have to account for more bullet drop which an Eotech isn't really designed to do... so I try to zero for the tool i'm using.

              eotech & magnifier

              HK dave,
I followed your instructions and lo and behold... i got my zero. it is still about 1/2" to X but ill take it since my grouping is about 1 in. Used my magnifier at the same distance and as you said it did not make any difference.
Thanks much and more power to you!!!!
