I have an Eotech 552 and was wondering if an Aimpoint 3x magnifier works with it. Has anybody tried the combo or knows they'll work together?

Yes, it does. You'll need to pick a mount that puts it at the right height, though.

The Larue flip mount works great but you need to make sure your EOTech 512 is mounted on a riser. As uclaplinker mentioned, it won't line up right if you're not using a riser.
However, if you're using a 553 or 557, those 2 have integral risers so nothing additional needed there.
Here's a pic with a 553, if it helps:

It's hard to beat the Larue mount. It's very sturdy, well made and the flip is intuitive.
The only downside is you'll need a riser. Larue and YHM both make one. I have the YHM; it's cheap, but not great. I've been thinking about trying the ARMS 17DR instead. I haven't heard of anyone using it, but it seems like it should work.
Alternatively, just sell your 552 and buy the 553.
EOTech makes a flip mount for their magnifiers. I'm unsure what height it's at.
