    Lens covers for Eotech XPS2

Anyone know of a descent set of lens covers for the Eotech XPS2?

The only ones I can seem to find online is GG&G brand for $42! That seems like a complete rip off for a couple of small pieces of cheap plastic that simply snap on.

would a scopecoat work? if you're looking for a hard cover, GG&G is the only game in town, AFAIK.

They don't exactly "snap on". They fit under the hoods and flip up while staying connected. They are the best covers for the Eotechs. Below is from their website

"GG&G continues to be the only manufacturer of Lens Covers For The EOTech XPS Scopes. These patented lens covers fit between the EOTech XPS2-0 and 3-0 hood and the body of the EOTech housing. They are spring operated so that once pressure is applied to release them from the closed position, they spring open. The rear cover lays across the top, so as not to interfere with the field of view. The front cover opens and serves as a sun shield. However, if heavy brush etc. is encountered, the front lens cover will fold back so that it is not damaged. Because of the contours of the EOTech housing, these covers are not 100% waterproof, but they do prevent most dust, debris, rain and snow from accumulating on the lenses. These unique lens covers can be easily operated with either hand to provide flexibility of operation. The design and methodology is so unique that we were awarded a patent." and of course they are made in the good ole USA....

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping there was something out there I just wasn't finding. I guess when GG&G are the only ones out there making them, they can get away with those crazy prices.

I am wondering how sturdy the GG&G covers are? They better be damn tough and they better fit like a glove for the money.

I checked out the Scopecoats. They are cheap and I just need something to keep dust out during storage and between shoots. Although, the GG&G covers would be much more practical in any environment.

if all you're concerned about is dust between shoots, just put the rifle in a case while stored, why worry about covering the rds.

Scope Coat are decent - I use one on rifle scope... but if you want to cover lenses in the field, GG&G is probably a better option (for convenience and durability).

I used a tactical sock to cover my XPS2. Think Hanes makes them, 12 for $15 or so.

I think Scopecoat are the best, I ordered one directly from them for my EXPS3-4/magnifier set up and it's only $24.95 shipped to me, the reason I ordered direct is that nobody even have them in stock yet. Annie have been very helpful.

Out of curiosity, what's the motivation for lens covers? I can understand it for magnified optics with their comparatively delicate and scratch-prone glass, but the EOTech is insanely durable and fully functional even when partially obscured. Hell, I've engaged targets in the middle of a dust storm and just used my dirty gloved finger to clear it off from cover, not something I would do with an ACOG unless it was an emergency.
