Are laser boresighters a better solution?

Or a $100 rifle rest.

Personal preference here. Search for recent threads on this topic.

Collimators are multi-purpose devices that also help you align your scope reticle to your receiver and let you get back to zero without firing a shot after switching scopes. But you don't really need one to boresight your scope, especially if you can see down the barrel from the rear with the bolt removed.
