Anyone got recommendations for gun cams or camera mounts

Thinking of doing this for up coming duck season.

I haven't used one myself, but this looks really appealing..

Having said that a fair number of production companies swear by these..

..and it seems to be more popular amongst action-sports crowd.
If you've ever watched any of the "hook" or "plunge" camera shots on deadliest catch... you've seen go-pro footage, same with the skateboard/bike cams at recent X-games.

Anyone know if there's a picatinny mount for these? I have had zero luck finding one which has been keeping me leaning toward the Contour line.

With the go pro you might be able to just mount it straight to the barrel

If you mount a Contour / GoPro action camera on a shotgun you will likely destroy the camera. These cameras were not designed to withstand the shock and vibration of a shotgun, which is 1,000-10,000 Gs.

This is the only product I know of that was designed to mount on a shotgun:

Learn about the most popular 4K video camera for shotgun clay shooting and rifle hunting. Perfect for trap, skeet, sporting clays, hunting.

I bit more pricey, but durable. It also has an accelerometer inside that tells the camera what video sequence to record. That makes it easy to use, without distracting you from the hunt.

          AHA!! found one!

Hey Bruce, those little action cameras are a LOT tougher than they'd seem, which is probably why (when combined with the price) they're so popular for TV production these days.

But that accelerometer triggered recording on the shotkam really does seem to make that a much more elegant solution for hunting videos.

Go with Contour HD and Contour picatinny mount. I have it on my AR, its bad *** and works great!! Dont think there is a shot gun mount but if u can get a rail put on the shotgun, it would be great. The unit is compact and very durable.

After researching and watching youtube videos and side by side comparison. The Gopro HD Hero2 seems to be the best in low light conditions vs the Hero 1, Contour +, an Drift. I think I will opt for head mount instead of mounting on a shotgun. Plus this video got me sold for watersport use for an upcoming Hawaii trip. If calguns gets 15% from the amazon link then they just got 48 bucks , everyone wins.

I have owned a few different go pro's and I currently have a hd hero 2. I have PERSONALLY used it motor cross racing, snowboarding, river rafting, scuba diving, rock climbing, jet skiing, wake boarding, firefighting (in a house fire) and the only that has happened was the SD card popped out and I have cracked 3 housings. I LOVE the go pro. It will handle anything you throw at it. One of my motocross buddies had one that fell off when he crashed and it broke the mount....it spent the following 4 hours getting ran over by riders and scraped over 2 times by a dozer cleaning the track. They are DURABLE. BUT one thing to consider, they are a wide angle lens so it may be difficult to see a duck....
