    Optic choice for ar-10

I pick up my dpms ar-10 tomorrow and wanted to see if anyone had advice on what optic to add to it. I'm on a slight budget and hope not to spend more than 300. Right now the longest range I have to shoot at is spenceville which I believe goes up to around 330 yards or so.

A friend of mine uses a nikon m-223 1x4 on his. Seems to handle the recoil fine and for the $ Nikon is pretty good glass. Right around 300$ right now through Midway. Thats about as cheap as I would go on glass for ANY rifle. I know there are good and bad stories about all brands but really you get what you pay for on optics.

These are great for the money plus it's FFP so all your mill readings will be same no matter what x your on.

Quality rifle scopes including LPVO 1-6x, 1-8x variable power, and long-range optics. Primary Arms ACSS reticles, Vortex, Leupold, and more brands.

+1 for the M223 line. I shot a 3-12 M223 on my friends DPMS LR308 and walked it out to 600+ yards. I've been eye balling their RECON myself!

Huge fan of Nikon's BDC and the M series scopes. The 2-8 M223 would be perfect from shooting 50 yards out to over 400 yards when you have the range. Tough and reliable scopes. Right about $300, but you have a 5% coupon code to use on it as well.

Take a look at the Sightmark 2.5-10X32 Mil Dot. I have one on a DPMS based 308 and another on an SPR build and have been extremely impressed with both. Excellent glass and reticle, knobs track accurately and they have well over the 100 moa of advertised travel (both of mine have around 130 moa of elevation adjustment). These are basically the poor man's version of the Nightforce 2.5-10X32 NXS. The specs are very similar between the two, and often the Sightmark has slightly better numbers in some areas such as total internal travel. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's equal to a Nightforce in terms of optical clarity, durability, or tracking accuracy. I'm saying for a fraction of the price, you can get a scope that will perform many of the same tasks as the Nightforce, and nearly as well for normal everyday range use. I wouldn't take it to war or serious competition, but it definitely gets the job done for recreational shooting.
