My Nikon P223 is made in the Philippines. Nikon has some scopes for around that price(mine was about $180 without rings). The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.

I currently have a Bushnell 10X40 mil dot for sale here for $150:
It's made in Japan. Finding a U.S. made scope for $150 is gonna be a difficult task. Any scope other than a very basic no frills setup anyway. It's hard to gget away from Chinese made scopes when you are trying to stay within a budget. Scopes made in PI or Korea are normally the next step up, then Japan. European optics are typically better than most American made scopes, and are priced accordingly.U.S. Navy (Retired) 1994-2015Comment

The bushnell elite 3200 is a great scope. The 10x40 is made in japan and has great optical clarity and the price is unbeatable. Though 10x isn't ideal, it can be used no problem at 1000 yardsBrian Kelly

I bet my bottom dollar that even some of the bigger US scope companies with the made in USA label still have some components outsourced. Only a certain percentage of the optic has to be make in the US to have that label.
I am a big fan of Japanese glass. SWFA does a great job, Vortex PST which is US company, made in the Philippians is a wonderful scope for the money, one of my favorites.
End of the day, even made in China stuff can actually be good, if the company behind it has good QC and stands behind their product. Primary Arms is a pretty good example of that. While it’s no Aimpoint, the value for money is there, and the product has a large and happy user base.ExtremeXComment
