Is it possible to put a free float rail system on an at with an A2 front sight post?

Yes. It can be complicated depending on how you want to do it. You need a 16" barrel with a screw off muzzle device. You install the FF rail, then either ask a Gunsmith to install the A2 FSB or buy an ArmaLite Clamp-on A2 and install it yourself. The reason you need a 16" is so you can slide the clamp-on A2 FSB onto the barrel. Then after the FSB is tight, you screw the muzzle device on.

Thanks, I have both a 16" barrel and a clamp on A2. I called a store and asked them but they said no. I was looking at a yhm ff rail.

well, as I said, it can get a bit complicated and believe me, many "gunsmiths" will say they can't do it because they are not really thinkers...they are doers. Since no one showed them how to work outside the box...they don't think it can be done.

You may run into trouble if you have a M4 profile barrel, or if your FF rail is slightly out of spec. I went with a YHM Specter length FF, a YHM Specter Low profile Gas Block and a YHM HK Style Flip-up Front sight mounted on a 14" HBAR barrel. If you look at this thread, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=493277 the first post has a pic of what my rifle looked like with a full length FF rail, I have since shortened it to Specter Length.

OR.... You can just buy a centurion arms free float rail and install it in about 15 minutes. Just cut the delta ring off and you're done.
