    a scope for a 10/22

    looking for a cheap option

im considering getting a mueller APV...

although would something like this work also? (even cheaper)

i figure theres very little recoil on a .22lr....but who knows with these things if they will jt come apart after a year...if thats the case id rather spend $150 on a mueller (which i heard favorable reports about)

The guys over on rimfirecentral do like the mueller. I am going to pick one up myself in the not to distant future for my 10/22.

The APV is pretty popular. You could also get a refurb Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 from www.samplelist.com for $140-150. It doesn't have the AO or as much range, but is pretty well regarded as an inexpensive scope.

Avoid Tasco, BSA, Leapers, NCStar, Barska, and pretty much anything under $100. They work for some people, but it's a crap shoot.

@maxicon ~ ah gotcha...i guess id love to cut costs...but i don't want to buy a $30-50 only to find that i still have to replace it later on with a $100-200 scope....

~what is the general life of a scope anyways?...i mean should i expect them to fall apar/break after a few years?

Dennis@mizzou and a 5 year old Barska 4x32 ($20). Both are fine on my 10/22. Both scopes do quite well giving squirrels major head aches

I used a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9 X 32 AO on my 10/22 and on CZ 452 rifle. The AO feature helps at shorter range. Buy from a reputable seller in case there are problems for replacement.

Quick question, standard 10/22 or a very modified 10/22? How far out do you want to shoot out to, 50 yards, 100 yards. May be fitting what you want to do to what type of 10/22 will help you decide on a scope.

I've used a Bushnell Banner 1-4x shotgun scope on small-caliber plinkers with some success. It's not a scope, but an ATN red dot sight can also be a lot of fun.

I also use a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9 X 32 on my 10/22. Works good for the price.

I dig the cheap barska 22 scope that comes with rings. I shoot out to 200yrds with it and it is great.
