    Fuzzy Eotech

I just got a new Eotech 512 and the reticle looks a bit fuzzy. Ive adjusted the brightness levels up and down but i still cant get a crisp display. I read the instructions and there is nothing that goes over any focus issues. Im just upset because pretty much looks like my $20 red dot site. Is it the Eotech or just me?

    Don't concentrate on the reticle.

Its the way the 512's are, zero it point and shoot you will get used to it. mine is the same way.

you must have a slight astigmatism an don't know it. I got my Eotech before I had My LASIK surgery. The Recticle looked fne with my glasses on, looked fuzzy with them off. I had the LASIK procedure and the dot, circle & hash marks @ 12/3/6/9 are crisp as they are in the advertisement.

I'd have my eyes checkse out.

As Mute said, don't focus on the recticle.

Keep both eyes open, one looking through the EOTech. Look out and focus at a picture on a wall 20 feet or so away, but don't concentrate on the recticle, concentrate on the target. if you're using it too close to the target, or focus on the recticle, you will notice the fuzzyness. I own 2 550 series and have sold dozens of them, they all look fuzzy if you focus on them and not the target. I have 20/15 vision with my contacts.

If you do some searching here and on AR15.com you will find many threads about this topic.

It's your eyes! The Eotech is fine. I have the same problem when I got it. I can see perfect short distance, but not on the Eotech. I have to wear glasses.

It takes a little to get use to.

Drop what you were taught before - focus on frontsight.

                Focus on your target instead.

That's THE way to use EOTech.

If you dont have astigmatism. Then you must be looking at the Eotech at night and indoors. If you take it outside in sunlight...the fuzziness will not be there.

This happened to me. Thought I got robbed at first. Checked again later with my contacts on and what do you know, clear as day.

                      That's the key.
I'll even hazard a guess that the OP has never looked through an Eotech before.

                        Thanks for the help!

Im only a bit nearsided so i dont wear my glasses normally. Of course when i put them on the eotech was crisp and clean, infact i might even say it looked awesome.

                        Once again thanks!

Just FYI... the fuzziness is because it uses a laser. The beam coherence causes it to look this way when you try to focus on the light itself.

As everyone here mentioned, if you're not focusing on the light (instead focusing on your target) it will diminish dramatically. Being near sighted causes it to appear more fuzzy because your eyes don't distance focus.

It never totally goes away, but it won't be obvious.

                          EOTechs are still awesome.
