SWFA Facebook Combo Deal On Backorder Wait Support Group Thread

I got in on the FB deal for the 1-6x24 & 5-20x50 combo deal back on June 12th and just got an email saying the items are on back-order. From threads on Sniper's Hide it seems that there is no firm commitment from SWFA other than "soon" or "this summer" on when the 1-6 is going to be in, and the 5-20 is on back-order probably because they sold out from this deal. I called SWFA and they aren't really commiting to any firm dates either. I guess their sales reps have been instructed to say "real soon." How many of you guys are also in the same boat as me and are waiting for your scopes to arrive?

The 5-20x50 is going to go on a 700SPS Tactical which I have never shot nor can shoot because it's my first bolt gun and don't have a scope for it. (Well, I guess I could shoot it but I would just be wasting ammo trying to use some imaginary iron sights.) I guess I am more anxious to get this scope because I want to try out long range shooting as well as take my first shots with this rifle.

The 1-6x24 is going on an AR-15 which does have some BUIS that I am currently just plinking with, but it'd be nice to get the scope in so I can play with it.

Here is my 5-20 on my AR15. Still don't know what I am going to do with the 1-6.

I'm in the same boat. I split the scopes with another CGN/Snipershide member.

I'm not sure I would have ordered if I knew it would be like this. I have little patience for poor customer service. I understand they are probably overwhelmed with the success of their promo but not giving people any idea where their purchases are is not cool. On top of that there are people who have sent their scopes in for repair who have not heard back and it's been months.

I cancelled and am sending the 5-20 back. The unknown ETA for the 1-6 is complete BS from SWFA, who is usually an outstanding retailer.

Have you talked to Pat? SWFA's customer service is outstanding in every regard.

The ongoing dilemma is that if SWFA gives a certain date and that date falls through, even more customers will be mad. They have no control over the production of the units in Japan, so they could arrive tomorrow, next week, or next month.

At least they don't charge your card before sending you a product. That, IMHO, ia trait not many companies follow anymore.

If you really want a scope, I would say cancel your order an order something else on their website or another retailer (maybe one form Calguns, too).

Honestly, I've wait longer for items (2.5 years for some guns and parts) and have been charged in advance for something I don't have. SWFA makes up for that by reserving your scope without a charge.

This^^ I have talked to them a few times and they have been prompt and very helpful. Besides is it not worth waiting a few months for 700$! in savings?

I forgot who I talked to. I think he was new. Talked a little about him being a high school teacher?

But yeah, that's the dilemma...I probably will just suck it up and wait it out, or pick up a used scope to use on my 700SPS while I wait for the 5-20. The 1-6x24 is just icing on the cake for me.

Forgive my b*tching, I'm just wanting to rant.

Completely understandable. I am sure I would be in the same boat if I didn't get mine already.

I ordered the combo too.... I got my 5-20 already, still waiting on the 1-6x

I guess I’m not too antsy because I ordered a Vortex PST 4-16 FFP and PST 1-4x after the SWFA deal came around so I have other stuff to play with. I would like to see that 1-6x come in sooner than later so I can finally do my SWFA vs Vortex comparison.

I also didn’t wait till the last min. to place my SWFA order… I figured with the popularity of this deal, the waits would be long so I am not really surprised. Last thing I really want from SWFA is the production line to start skipping QC steps or hurrying processes to get more units out the door… I’m just going to sit tight and wait till it gets here.

Never a BAD idea to have a cheaper "backup scope"

I use a Millet TRS-1 just for that purpose...

Hopefully I hear something but in the meantime the Vortex PST keeps me occupied.

I once bought something up front [for a lot of cash] and was told it was 50-70 weeks wait (really)! Well, when the time came to deliver it to me, I got a present because I forgot that I even ordered it.

Just be happy once you see that "hit" on your CC, you know Santa is bringing home a present.

My laziness is the biggest limiting factor. I haven’t even mounted up the 5-20 SWFA after I received it, still sitting in the box.

I will give you a preliminary comparison between the two.

The SWFA seems better built for rough use. The assembly is stout.

The fit and finish goes to the Vortex PST. It just seems like a more refined design.

The turrets FEEL better on the Vortex PST; clicks are wider and more positive. The SWFA has a lot more adjustment per revolution.

Glass… I’ll be honest; it’s really hard for me to tell the difference between the two. I would have to get both of them mounted up and use them overtime to really be able to give a better objective review. The SWFA does look like it will edge out in the glass area.

Both are really nice scopes, and have their own pros and cons. I need some more time with them before I can really put my finger on which one I like more.

I would love to get the 1-6x sooner… The 1-4x PST is awesome, I love the reticle, but I wish the illumination was brighter. Waiting to see how the 1-6x will compare for day use, reticle, and FFP. Pretty excited to compare to two.

It’s going to be tough making a decision between the two. Getting both brands has not made this any easier.
