    Burris Fastfire issues.

I just received my Burris Fastfire3 last night and I'm not 100% sure yet but I think I might have issues.

First off, the instruction manual is all but worthless. I have it mounted on a pic rail that will eventually be mounted to my Browning Buckmark. Just looking at where the point of aim us in relation to the rail it looks like the point of aim is going to be crazy high.

My other issue is the dot itself is rather vague and not very clear. Its less of a dot, and more like a retarded star.

Any opinions? Is it possibly user error caused by my own case of adult onset retardation?

Check the intensity level on the dot - I think there's three levels? Elevation adjustments don't correct enough?

I'll have to wait to get it mounted on the actual pistol but looking at it on the rail that is bolted to the Tactical Solutions barrel that I have it looks like it's going to be way off. I'll see if I can adjust the intensity of the dot to fix the shape.

Good luck. If you can't make it come together, I would call Burris or just return it.

Do you have vision problems? Astigmatism? This could be cause for the irregular "star" shape of the reticle.

I wear glasses but otherwise have just fine vision. I'm only 41, not 80 lol.

I had an astigmatism at 21 so age is worthless in this discussion. If you wear glasses then the dot could look like a fluffy cotton ball or funky star or whatever. Its not the scope its your eye.

Maybe have a second set of eyes look at it? Check the easy things first.

I had a friend that owns two of them look at it and confirmed that it wasn't right. Sent it back for refund. Getting the Fast fire 3.

Which Buckmark do you have? I would think that any optic would be high - the Contour shaves off a bit due to the integral rail. You might consider having a gunsmith adapt one of the Burris mounts that replace the rear sight on certain pistols... that will put the optic closer to the bore axis. They don't make one for the Buckmark, but a competent gunsmith* should be able to make one fit.

*A "competent gunsmith" is not normally a neighbor, friend, friend of a friend, or a brother-in-law. Voice of experience. YMMV.

I have the Camper model but I've already flipped the sear spring and installed a Tactical Solutions Barrel and rail. Just need to get optics sorted and get a trigger from Rusty 22 and I'll be happy.

That TacSol rail with the integrated rear sight looks pretty slick. I've shot revolvers with optics, and the height issue may not be a problem for you. Hope you get the dot shape issue ironed out. My FastFire II's dot is nice and sharp.
