    Scope Protector

    Hey guys, I had an idea for a device that would protect optics from damage or misalignment due to impact, whether it be a pothole on the way out to the range or slamming on your brakes and your gun bag falls onto the floor or you set the gun against a tree or rock when out hunting and it slips and falls, whatever.

    I think I would be able to sell this device for in the $75-150 range, it would fit almost any scope, it would not mount to the scope itself, and you could still access the adjustments with it on.

    I'm trying to gauge the interest in this type of device. To me it seems like a no-brainer, especially to the long-range guys who spend $5k on a scope, or the hunters who spend $5k on a hunting trip that might be made or broken by one shot.

    Please let me know whether you'd buy this device and what you'd consider a fair price.

      $75-150 for a device that doesn't mount to the scope that protects it? IMHO, you're going to have to divulge a lot more than that cause it sounds like a bulky, weight-adding, snag-prone 'bubble'. The $20 6mm Scopecoat XP-6 is hard to beat for safe storage/travel protection. Once in the field for leisure shooting, match, hunt, etc ... I'm ok with any of my scopes getting beat up. FWIW I don't own any $5k scopes, but own a fleet of Hensoldt, S&B, NF F1 and USO.

      No intent to sound like a 'naysayer' but simply providing honest feedback as requested.

          Protecting my scope is why I always use a hard case for transport.
          If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

              There are also the large padded clamshell type covers that are made from nylon from Eagle or Blackhawk. Best way for you to gauge interest is to prototype some and take them to a gun shop that specializes in precision rifle. I cannot really envision anything that could be left on the rifle that would allow access to everything while protecting everything.
