Quick Red Dot Question

I sighted in my PA Micro Dot by looking at the dot through the irons, and realized that I always end up shooting it that way every time I go to the range. Now obviously looking through the irons and lining them up every time defeats the purpose of having the red dot to make quicker shots (no point and shoot). If I simply look over the irons and raise the dot off of the front sight post, the POI will still be the same, yeah?

sounds about right. if your dot is zeroed it doesnt matter how you look at it, the dot is where your poi will be.

Went to the range last Wednesday. Looked over the irons through the red dot and all of my shots were high. I hope to get to the range again soon, maybe this Thursday, and I'll see if it happens again.

How high? Once you get close indexing against the irons you always want to fine tune the red dot independently of the irons, as is mentioned in the video.

Placing the red dot on the tip of the iron can help to get you on paper, but you should zero your red dot independently of your irons.

That was my n00bness about red dots in asking my question then. I'll have to re-adjust the zero on my red dot as the red dot zero is spot-on with my BUIS zero. IIRC, the rounds were 4" high at 50 yards. I'll adjust the zero on the red dot appropriately and report back after my next range trip.
