    Lucid 2x-5x Magnifier

I'm looking for a magnifier to go along with my Eotech 511. I've tried cheap magnifiers and the terrible eye relief was just a no go. I am tired of having to be in a fixed shooting position with no room for movement.

From what I have read the Lucid unit is solid in terms of quality but I haven't read much about it's eye relief. I'm hoping that I wouldn't have to go to an $500 Eotech combo for my .22 LOL

It has good eye relief. Actually, it's too much at 2X and good from 3X and out. I don't think you need 5X for an EOTech 511 but that's up to you. I prefer 3X for that reticule.

I don't think I need a 5X either but the thought that it's versatile and I can "graduate" it to a 5.45 AR is why I'm looking into it. Otherwise you are right a 3x is probably a good match to a .22 AR and the 511.

EDIT: I re-read your post and I'm not sure what you mean by I wouldn't need a 5x for the Eotech511. I thought you meant for a .22 AR

eye relief is very good on the Lucid (3-4")... I sold my Lucid and replaced with Burris AR Tripler (wanted less bulk, more compact, paired with XTS135 in place of HD7)...

I really miss the longer eye relief of the Lucid.

Just a personal preference thing in that the traditional EOTech A65 reticule (1MOA dot + 65MOA circle) doesnt have any BDC dots so you cant do any effective holdovers. So that reticule is only good to 300Y for a 10-12" sized target (COM). The 557 and EXPS 3-4 have BDC reticules with drops out to 600Y so for those EOTechs, I prefer more magnification like 5X.

            Thanks for explanation my friend.

Right now a magnifier is just going on a .22 so yea, 50-75 is the max I will be shooting.

It looks like the lucid is too good to go!

BTW I heard that they are working on another version of the 2-5x and it has something to do with the reticule focus adjustment. I broke my unit in a carbine class so I wonder if that is what is going to be fixed. He did send me a replacement unit though.

Does the lucid maintain the eye relief at full mag?

The eye relief changes as you change magnification.

So what's the eye relief at 5x?

Eye relief is 4"-2.5", based on their website.

Wondering about how "real" those numbers are. Saw the ones on the sight

very (or very close anyway)... I measured (prior to even knowing their reported numbers were).

Eye relief with the Lucid is not a problem, it's very good.

                            Awesome!

I had a magnifier that had so little eye relief I need to put my forehead against it lol.

Now I need to come up with the money for it
