    Eotech EXPS3 vs 552 w/ Larue LT110 Riser

I currently have an Eotech 552. I am pretty happy with it other than wanting to get a riser to get 1/3 co-witness out of it.

What would be the pros and cons of me selling off my 552 and getting an EXPS2 or EXPS3 instead of getting a riser?

The weight with the riser should be about the same as the weight off the 552 by itself. The only issue I would think of would be the availability of the new battery (123) and cost.

      I have a XPS2 and a 512 both on LT-110s.

The biggest con to me is the rail space that the LT-110 takes up. I like to interchange a magnifier in a LT-649 FTS mount, because of this I have to mount the LT-110s further forward, partially on the FF rail to give enough space for the magnifier and mount. When the magnifier isn't installed on either ofthe rifles they feel a bit unbalanced and front heavy.

In retrospect, the EXPS-2 or 3 would have probably been a better solution. I can also go with a the LT-602 fixed magnifier mount that mounts to the rear of the 110, but I like the "flip to side" versatility of the 649 so I'll stick with it for now.

In terms of batteries between the 2 units, the battery life of the XPS is a bit shorter being rated at 600 hours vs the 500 series at 1000 (IIRC). AAs are obviously cheaper and easier to come by than the CR123s, but since I also have a couple other devices that run on CR123s I just order them online by the dozen which makes it a non issue.
