simmons 8830 pro 50

i have a simmons pro 50 model 8830 which Will not focus except at the lowest power setting (2.5) and it seems it will only focus at very close range even at low power. this scope came with a pcp air rifle i bought but it was so blurry i just took it off, now i have a new rimfire rifle that needs an optic, so i was wondering theres something i'm missing. i have adjusted the eyepiece focus all the way forward and all the way back to no avail. just thought i'd ask before i throw it out.

Just noticed your post. I realize I am about a year too late but if you have not tossed the scope yet, I have a notion to share which I hope is not insulting. Does it have an adjustable objective lens? If so, it might be the problem.
