I have a buddy who owns a machine shop.
Going to have him cut my Springfield Armory Loaded Target 1911 Stainless.
The issue is the huge rear sight.
Plan on cutting for adapter plate so I can change the footprint if needed.
So the actual question is............
What is a good adapter plate for 1911 or any pistol.
The S/A adapter plate AOS has a dove tail cut at the rear and would look very odd if my slide was cut flat all the way back.
The rear of the plate would have a huge gap below rear sight or rear sight will be hanging over rear of slide.
My slide has cut at rear so most likely will cut a single flat surface.

Maybe a plate like AOS but flat all the way back if that makes sense.
Prefer rear sight on plate but not a deal breaker without.
Wanted to use a common plate so if in 10yrs need to buy another footprint most likely be available.
Thanks.
Updated
Buddy looked at slide and AOS adapters.
Came to the same conclusion about a large gap at rear of slide.
AOS dove tail in rear would cause him to mount the adapter farther forward since the slide is already milled at rear.
This would leave a very odd looking metal tab on slide.
So going with the OSP mounting plates.
The OSP plate is shorter.
If the red dot has any overhang in the front he will need to mill down slide to top of the plate.
My current red dot has a 1.6mm overhang on the front and rear.
Example

So my new question is.
Can CalGunners measure length of red dots?
The adapter plate will be interchangeable and I could buy a new red dot.
Do not want to have my slide milled again for front overhang.
Prefer to give him a measurement for longest potential red dot I could pick up.
Please give red dot model and length, width is not needed.
Thanks....
