EOTech and Magnification Spacers?

Can you run an EOTech XPS2 without the quick-release cam lever with a magnifier on your AR15? It looks like all the setups I've seen have the quick-release EOTech plus a spacer in the magnifier.

I'm trying to save as much weight as possible on my AR15 build so I'd like to ditch the 3oz cam lever and the ~1oz spacer on the magnifier if possible. Thanks!

If I were to remove the spacer in my eotech magnifier, it would no longer clear the rear BUIS, so would have to be mounted too far forward for proper eye relief. The Eotech 3x magnifier I have is very picky about eye relief. Then the Eotech sight itself would probably be bridging the gap between my upper rail and the forward rail.

I haven't tested removing the spacer, so I don't know if you can even mount it without it (too expensive for me to test, sorry).

+1 for Stix213. I've run into the same situation where you can run out of room depending what BUIS you have. The raised magnifier definitely allows for more clearance for your rear irons and most manufacturers fit. Depending on how you want to use yoru new build you may want to ditch the BUIS if you really want to eliminate all extra weight, wont have the clearance issue then.

As for the XPS2, if you have added a QR mount, like the GG&G, you should be able to remove it and mount. If you have the EXPS2 with it built in, I don't think that can be removed.

A magpul Buis will fit under a non-spacered eotech magnifier, if it's the Arms/Samson FTS mount.
