Just wrapped up testing the Osight X red dot on my Shadow Systems DR920P and wanted to share results for anyone curious about this new budget optic.
Price: under $200
Build: proprietary aluminum blend (OAL)
Battery System: rechargeable hood w/ USB-C, recharges the optic up to 3x
Reticles: dot, circle-dot, or circle only
Brightness Modes: auto, manual, or lock
Glass: very clear, minimal tint
Reticle: crisp, sharper than my Holosun 507 Comp (to my eyes)
Rounds Fired: 300+ (reloads, factory, +P Gold Dots)
Zero: held without issue
Cons: finish scratches easily,
Minor reticle fade near top of glass,
Unknown long-term durability (desk pop destroyed easily)
Final Thoughts: The Osight X is an impressive budget optic. It’s clear, feature-rich, and reliable so far. The rechargeable system is surprisingly practical, especially with a USB-C setup. Think about the ability to recharge with a small solar setup anywhere any time. Not sure if it’s "battle-tough", but for range or EDC use, it’s a solid performer at this price point. I've seen a few other folks put them through decent beatings so far and they did fine.
