For anyone interested, it is now possible to add a red or green dot sight to a J Frame revolver. The $50 adaptor to do so comes from AllchinGunParts.com, and hosts a Holosun 507C sight. Adding it to a S&W 517-3 took removing the rear sight and drilling two holes in the top frame. Professional installation was recommended, so mine was done (well) by Armstrong Arms in Laguna Hills. Here's the result:
IMG_3731.jpgI much prefer aiming the new Holosun to the original fiber-optic front sight, which found dim and difficult to see under most lighting conditions.
