    Eotech XPS-2 Clone/Replica

    Hey guys,

I recently picked up one of the Eotech XPS-2 red/green reticle clones and am having second thoughts about it. I want to be able to move it from my rimfire to my AR-15 and I'm second guessing it's ability to hold zero on the AR.

Have any of you guys used one of these on your AR-15 that can tell me first hand if it held up or not?

I'm thinking about selling/keeping it based on comments here.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Thanks Dimitri, but I was hoping for a little more than that. I have purchased and used PA sights before and while they are good, they are also considered to be a clone, correct?

Second! I bought one of those cheap look a likes at a gun show for $75, what a waste of my money! I mounted it on my AR and took it out on a weekend camping trip and it stopped working before the weekend was over! Something started rattling inside. I guess it couldn't handle the recoil. Keep it on your .22 and buy the real thing for your AR.

Same thing probably would have happened to a real eotech.

If you can afford to trash it then move it to the centerfire AR. Otherwise if its working out fine then leave it.

Buy another PA Red Dot for your centerfire AR if you can't afford anything soon, good product and service.

Actually decent optics or red dots don't cost anymore then tacticool junk. I use Burris, Weaver, and Vortex products and they are just under $200.

I did the opposite of you - I bought a real Eotech 517 for my rimfire AR.

Clone in this case usually refers to a Ebay counterfeit. Our product never has a stolen logo or violates a patent.

As long as you don't have a whole lot invetsed into it, leave it on your .22 for now. If you want to start with something nice that wont break the bank, check out the Vortex Strikefire or SPARC. Both are nice and will work well on a 223 and if you want to invest into something more in the near furture, switch that to your .22 and put something new on the 223.

did you bother following the link? it goes to a page of legit eotechs. PA sells all kinds of stuff.

i purchased one of the sights you're talking about when i first got into long guns. i used it to test having an eotech-style sight mounted in various positions on various firearms before shelling out big bucks for the real deal.

i didn't believe for even a minute that the knockoff would stand up to actual use, so i never asked it to do that. (also, compared to an actual eotech, it's a serious POS.) one gets what one pays for; i got it for a specific purpose, and it did that job.
