With magnifiers you can get away with the less expensive alternatives and just get a good flip to side mount like a LaRue or ADM, they both are available in either absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness heights. Vortex has an unbeatable lifetime warranty and Primary Arms has a new Long Eye Relief model for $100.

I have two of the Larue swing away mounts with 3X Aimpoint mags in each. An older LT649, and a newer version LT755 (Both function identical, LT755 is a little lighter re-design). Typical Larue build quality. Best out there IMHO. They come in different heights so make sure you choose the appropriate height that matches your optic. I have a medium height on one rifle, and a tall on the other. Like them both equally....

Looking at your set up.... I have the Magpul GenII rear flip sight... How is the clearance for you? And how solid is the mount?

This may sound like a dumb question... But what is the difference between absolute and lower 1/3??

Im checking out ur set up! I do have a question... I have a magpul genII flip rear sight... Do you have an issue with the clearance for your rear sights?

An absolute co-witness has the rear sight, the dot and the front sight all in a line. A lower 1/3 co-witness has the front and rear sights in the lower 1/3 of the sight picture. An optic like an EOTech 512 provides an absolute co-witness. An EOTech EXPS2, with a quick release base, sits 7mm higher than the 512, and provides a lower 1/3 co-witness.

When I went looking for a magnifier, I pulled one of everything we sell from the warehouse to compare. I thought the best intersection of price and performance was the Vortex VM3X in the swing mount. ADI makes the swing mount for Vortex, and while ADI makes two heights of the Swing Mount, Vortex only bundles the low swing mount. Works well with my EOTech 512. I did have to replace my GG&G rear sight, as it was a wee bit too high to allow the VM3X to clear when "swinging". I now use a Magpul rear, and life is good.

                            Excellent!! Thank you!
Im looking into that set up... Or possibly the LaRue mount. I hear its better to have the flip to side rather then the swing??!
But that Vortex 3x has gotn some great reviews!

I know you asked specifically for a 3x, but what about the 2-5x variable magnifier by Lucid?
