DD MFR 12" question

A quick question to the experts here:

I purchased and installed a DD MFR 12" rail a few months ago (late Christmas present), and it looks pretty good... Except for a small gap between the top rail of the handguard and the top rail of the upper reciever (see pic).

Is this just a cosmetic issue, or does it mean I didn't tighten the barrel nut enough to cause the two rails to mate correctly?

Looks like most of those have some (small) gap, so I'll stop worrying and get to the range to test it.
