    Aimpoint Battery Cover

Is this an AimPoint RDS model?

The threading on the battery compartment is stripped. It's repaired "just for now" with some aluminum tape taking up the slack. AimPoint carries battery covers, but at $29.00 a pop I'd like to make certain I get the right one ,,, the 2nd time around. ;(

No idea to answer your question. Did you reach out to aim point to ask them? Maybe they will send you one. Worth a call.

This looks to be an Aimpoint H-1. The model number will be written on the side of the sight body in white text. Take a pic with your cell phone and zoom in if needed to read it.

Notice how this pic says MICRO H-1 2 MOA? The H-1 is the model. Does yours say the same?

If I am correct about your model then you need this battery cap cover, assuming the sight's threads are not also stripped.

This is a $500 sight. So $19 + tax and freight is not too much to pay. If you do not have one, I recommend adding the red colored tool as well. It will keep you from destroying it again. It has ensured I not only protect the threads, I have no wear on the either either thanks to this tool.

I contacted Aimpoint and of course, between the $19.00 cover and the $29.00 cover the winner is ,,,,, $29.00.

I'm debating using it on a KelTec R50. Not really a fan of the red dots as opposed to a low power scope. Trick on this thing is something small and light.

I'd want a shorter Larue base on the thing if it stays.

As much as I love Larue, they are probably not the best option for that particular setup. Ideally you would want something that does not block the view of your iron sights. If the current height of the red dot feels good when getting a cheek weld, you might want to consider the Daniel Defense mount. It has the center portion open. If you want to go lower, LaRue and others make a low height mount that might offer the clearance you need to co-witness the red dot with your irons. I was going to suggest the possibility of going even higher so you could run night vision comfortably. But I realized the H-1 is not night vision compatible.

Personally, I like the looks of that setup. It's a shame the Larue mount is blocking the irons. It's pretty cool looking as is. Those LaRue mounts are not cheap. They've actually gone up in price.

I appreciate the advice. The mount sits way too high for me. And anything see through does the same. An EER scope is likely how I'll go, with lever release. Unfortunately there's no such thing as the old Pachmayr "Swing Lo" mount for weaver rails.
