    Optics help...

Hey guys, I'm nearing the end of my AR build (sort of), and am starting to look into sights. I was thinking iron sights with the rear being an A2 carry handle, and a flip up front sight. I also stumbled across the SightMark Ultra Shot Pro Spec NV QD reflex sight. If I went that route, I'd get a rear flip up sight. The final goal for my optics on this gun is an EOTech 512 holo. Which route should I go though prior to getting the EOTech? Thanks for any input guys.

Most will tell you to practice with your iron sights first as an answer to this question.

Just a thought, but maybe instead of the SightMark, a better use of the funds would be to get a nice set of flip-up BUIS. This way you'll have a good set of irons to use until you get the 512.

More of us may be able to help out if you give specifics on what's your optics budget and intended use for the rifle is?

Troy flip ups are norm for a good buis and PrimaryArms have pretty good prices. But if you intend to use a red dot like an Eotech as primary sight then maybe even a Magpul MBUS Gen 2 will suffice as its deployed rarely.

I'd recommend the Eotech 517 over 512. Its got a riser to better co-witness and the little extra height clears carbine handguards plus its a brighter unit.

Our Micros are cheap and reliable. I run them on all my personal AK/Siagas they are not an Eotech but 2MOA with good reliability and cheap is hard to beat.
We also carry Eotech AImpoint as well. Go under red dot store and check things out.

loosewreck is right on. Save your funds and get a good BUIS. I like the Ma Tech BUIS with a fixed front sight, but that's only because I ran around with that setup while in the Army. Samson as well as Troy manufacture some great BUIS sytems! I would go loosewreck's recommended route...
