I would argue that an ACOG is going to be less expensive than a comparably durable and clear LPVO

Unless you need to in close capability of 1x, stick with the 2.5-10. Better suited to what you wish to do. ACOG can work, but its fixed magnification and field of view is less than ideal for hunting.

The 3.5 and and especially the 4x ACOGs have incredible field of view. They have poor reticles for hunting and I agree, they are less than ideal.

I've read that optically the fixed acoc should give you the best image, followed by a decent 2.5x10. Companies have built 4x magnifying scopes for a long time, and do it well. Even expensive 1x10s are said to have issues with fish eyeing at lower mags and tunneling plus image dimming at higher mags. Lower powered lpvo can still have the low powerd issues. Apparently it's hard to make a 10x scope, unless you want to spring for a March. I've played with both 1x10 and 2.5x10 scopes, and the latter look a lot better to me.

I think for hunting the 2.5x10 or another mid power scope should give the versatility and best image for the money, especially on a 6.5 Grendel. I go a bit simpler, and mount a 3x9 on my Grendel when taking it hunting.

Regardless of how you end up, good luck with your hunt!
