Need Scope Mount for Mosin Nagant M91

The scope mount rail that came with this M91 was trash so I am looking for a good replacement. The top of the receiver has pre-drilled holes tapped in 5mm and 6mmx1 spaced .83" apart. Does anyone know if a good rail that will fit?

The base that fit your rifle was probably home made. There aren't any good options for mounting a scope to the top of the receiver where yours is drilled. You might consider a side rail "PU" mount which was standard on Mosin Nagant sniper rifles.

See the below pic's. There types of mounts and bases can be found on Ebay. Most are reproductions, but for your rifle that isn't a issue.

Also on Ebay are "PEM" mounts for round receiver rifle like yours. You will have to drill and tap the receiver for either the PU or the PEM bases. Good luck.

Thanks SVT-40. I appreciate your input. If no ready fit off the shelf options are available I may just have a rail machined to match the current holes since they need to be filled anyway.

I have a rail that replaces the front sight that you can have. PM me if interested.

Bad Ace Tactical rail might just suit you. It replaces the rear sight.

OP, looks like our original PMs disappeared. I just sent you another one.

              Hi Ken,

Our PMs did vaporize as you noted. In the meantime I found a mount to replace the rear sight in my parts horde however I think I would still prefer screwing a rail back into those two existing holes.

I will look for a rail option and might have to seek out somebody to machine the screw holes with an end mill.

Ok. Sounds like a plan. Sorry things didn't work out

I can recommend the "Rock Solid" Picatinny scope mount. I've got it on my refurb'ed Mosin action and had it installed at McGowen while I had the receiver reblued and rebarreled. The Rock Solid mount is indeed good and solid. It is known to clear the type of bolt handle that you have installed. "Jim The Boltman" modded my bolt handle, and it clears the scope mount perfectly.

                    Cowboy,
Thanks for your recommendation. It looks like a great possibility that I am looking into.
