WILL A NIKON M223 WORK ON A FIXED HANDLE AR

I have an old pre ban Bushmaster with a fixed handle. I Bought a magpull PRS stock in order to give me a pretty comfortable cheek weld. Im thinking real hard about getting the Nikon M223 and was wondering if anyone would know if this set up would work without the 20 MOA mount recommended for the optic. I will be using the Burris XTR low rings. I have and old Busnell 3-9 power scope on it now, but I recently bought a Zeiss for another rifle and am now a glass snob. This hobby/obsession is getting very expensive!!!
