Trijicon Acog TA01

Is anyone out there running an Acog TA01 (not the NSN) on a flat top 16" carbine?

I'm trying to decide which scope to put up on my Colt 6940, and am leaning towards an ACOG for their durability/simplicity.

I read that the TA01 is ideally calibrated for a 20" carry-handle AR. However, I really like the reticle on it, and was wondering if anyone out there is running this on their 16" flat top, with either the Trijicon TA51 mount or a Larue mount.

I plan on using this as general purpose setup (target shooting, coyote hunting, as well as SHTF).

tao1 suck at eye relief

The ta11's have 4" and are much more forgiving.

TA33 do real well also.

The TA01 is for a carry handle AR, if you try to mount it to a flat top the BDC / reticle wont match up. If its going on a flat top you want a TA01NSN.

I have a TA31F which has the same eye releif as the TA01... 1.5"

The 1.5" of eye releif doesnt bother me. The 4x field of view is nice a wide. Getting a TA33 or TA11 you are going to trade off certain things to gain others.

Its really personal prefrence. If you can find one at a local store and look though it before you buy, would be the best way to dertermin what you might like more.

Thanks for the comments... Yeah, after researching the TA01 I realized that it was meant for a carry handle AR - I was just curious to see if anyone had tried it with a flat-top, and if so, what the results were...

TheTA31 F seems to be super popular, so I took a look through one to see if how I liked the chevron setup, but as for me I really just feel more comfortable with cross-hairs.... So, if I go TA31, I will opt for the "CH" reticle... Not a lot of those on the shelves, though, so probably won't get any deals on one...

@SOCOM1 - That's good to know... So far I think that's the one I'm going to get... A Trijicon Rep called me today, and after speaking with him I pretty much have now ruled out the TA01.. Rats...

If you can find a good deal on a TA01NSN go for it, should be around the same price as the TA01.

If you can spend a little more, I would get the TA31-CH, having the fiber optic option is pretty awesome.

Even after owning a TA31F, I still want a crosshair model, it was actually my first pick over the chevron, but I decided to give it a try since it was a unique reticle I've never used before. Plus all I really own are scope optics with crosshairs.
