Acog: chevron or horseshoe

I currently have the Crosshair model, but originally had a Chevron model, and had the opportunity to test the Horseshoe model.
What I disliked about the Horseshoe was the fact that it lacked precision, and at distance, the dot will in fact cover part of the target. The debate regarding which reticle picks up faster is personal opinion.
Since you use the tip of the Chevron, the shots are more precise, and unless you're using the BDC, your targets are not covered. Will never apply, but in real CQB, I'd definitely prefer to have the Horseshoe.
Personally, I'm partial to the Crosshair model, but that's based on the type of shooting I do, and your choice should be partially based on that as well. -
Here is my thinking... the chevron is slightly more accurate at 100-200 yards, but takes longer to focus for that accuracy. At 300+ either one is using the BDC. The horseshoe is more like an Eotech (65/1Moa) for CQB, so maybe its a better alternative as an all in one. the chevron is of course awesome, but I can afford only one optic as of now, so trying to figure out what is best.NRA Lifetime Member

I feel that the chevron is better for the same reason SOCOM1 stated. To me, it's like pointing and clicking on something with a mouse. But once you're at 300 yards there is no difference.Last edited by Droppin Deuces; 03-30-2012, 9:01 PM.sigpicComment
