Half mil vs mil dot reticle, worth it?

    Hi gang
I'm shopping around to upgrade my scope looking at the hawke sidewinder 30 and the sidewinder 30 tactical. The tactical has a half mil dot "floating" reticle and the standard has a standard mil dot reticle.

Is a half mil reticle really that much more useful than a standard mil dot? Or is it really just a luxury or a solution for a problem that doesn't exist?

I have no experience with any mil dot type reticles. So any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

After going from a standard mil dot to an "enhanced" half mil dot, I immediately saw the benefit in the form of finer holdover adjustments. Haven't really had a chance to range with it yet, but the advantage is pretty apparent.

+1 for Droppin Deuces. Having more fine hold over points is what I prefer. You might not ever use it for ranging, but for a little scope dope and having teh holdovers known, its pretty nice.
