AR 308 Optics?

Not sure what glass I should use for a 308 AR I have? I will mostly be shooting @ 100y, 300y, and want to have the option to shoot at longer ranges. This is first AR that I built for precision shooting. I'm really looking into these scopes below, but don't know if they will be limited in elevation (both around 50) for an AR? Should I go with a lower magnification in order to get more elevation or do I not need to worry about elevation adjustments on AR 308? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you're mostly shooting inside of 300y, both of those scopes are magnification overkill (for .308WIN in general, I think). For .308WIN ARs I like low power variables like 1-4 or 1.5-6x, but that's just me. With semi-autos I like to zero at 200y and shoot holdover most of the way. If you go with a larger magnification, you're going to limit yourself at shorter ranges and with the reduced FOV you get with higher magnification you're more likely to be late getting back on target to spot the splash.

If I was building a .308WIN AR today I would be looking at one of the Leupold Mk6 scopes.

I'm thinking that is more magnification than you need for what you want to do with it. I would use a variable power scope with a max of 10x at the high end. If this is just a Range Only rifle (not hunting) you could get away with a fixed power scope. They run less money than variable power scopes in the same class.
Check out a USO ST-10 or ST-17 if you gotta have more mag

thanks! I ended up buying the Vortex Viper PST 4-16. However, there is a 4 week wait according to opticsplanet. I guess I could have paid full price and found it elsewhere, but those 10% off coupons are really cool!

The Mk6 is a win, great balance on performance vs price.
