Samson evolution rail

For those with piston style ar with Samson evolution rail, did you have any problem with the rail heating up from excess gas exhaust from the piston mechanism?

Also where can I find best prices for evolution rails?

Not sure about the heat question... I just bought the 12.37" version today for a 16" gas middy. I really wish they had a 13" but it should be close enough for my needs. I bought mine locally for about $160 + tax.

I got minr as well, not heat problem at all even at the front where the piston gas block is

You have a Stag Model 8 right? It looks like the newer model with the Diamondhead sights. Does your gas block have the integral picatinny rail on top and bottom? I have an older Model 8 and was looking to upgrade the standard handguards to a freefloat rail. If your gas block is the same as the one on mine, from your picture it looks like the there's enough clearance. Can you post a close-up pic showing the gas block and rail. That Samson Evolution rail looks sweet!

That looks fantastic...

I really like how light weight it is. I decided to get away from the quad rails because I dont attached anything to mine and its more comfortable to hold a tube.

Yes i have the 2012 stag m8. And it does have the small rail at the buttom of the gas block. Space between button of the gas block and the rail is very limited but it does not touch. You wont be able to fit a rail attachment directly underneath the gas block. However you can only use two screw just behind the gas block to fit those long rail sections and even though they are hold by two screws, it is very sturdy and will not come off. Ill try to get some picture soon

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the upper part of gas block fits through the cut-out in the Evo rail. I was kinda hoping the whole gas block fit inside the rail -- I wanted to get a midlength rail, but that won't work.
How was the install? I know you have to disassemble the gas block/piston to slip the rail over the barrel -- did you cut-off the delta ring or have to remove the barrel from the upper receiver?

I cut the delta ring with the dreme, removed the muzzle and slide out the gas block through the front. Remember m8 has both taper pins and two screws on the bottom as well.
