How Often Do You Replace Your Batteries?

I just ordered some 123as for my TLR and Surefire, and it got me thinking.. when do you replace your batteries in your lights? Do you wait until they're completely out, lose some of the brightness, or somewhere in between?

My lights indicate when the batteries are running low; my aim point battery gets switched out on my birthday (just cuz its easy to remember.

On my x200 on my glock, I switch out the batteries as soon as it starts getting dim enough to where I can easily tell there is a difference. The old batteries get taped together for later use in one of my other handheld flashlights (don't want to mixed used batteries). Everything else, I pretty much wait until they are dead.

For lights, I keep them on hand and change when they begin to dim.

I never wait for them to dim before going out and buying more.

I always have charged rechargables ready. So I change when they start to dim.

I replace the batteries in the EOTechs when they start to blink. Everything gets changed out on New Years Day (easy to remember, and a quiet activity after a night of celebrating) and on the 4th of July. Essentially every 6 months, whether needed or not. The outgoing batteries get checked with a multimeter, and go in a box as spares.

Bad memories of those crappy Eveready batteries with the "9 lives" cat, leaking in my toys as a kid in the 60's.

My toys are more expensive now, and I have to buy them for myself.

And don't forget to change your smoke detector batteries when you change you clocks like earlier this month. A message from your friendly neighborhood fireman.
