Which Base Mount 1 or 2 piece? 20moa vs 40

Not quite sure of how you decide...but I'm thinking a 1 piece base now what's the difference between a 20moa or 40 ...is it the height of the base?

    setting up a Rem 700p .338 lapua....leaning towards a NF 5.5x22 or a 8x32 both have a 56mm obj/bell

Looking for your helpful opinions & advice

    Thanks,
    Mike

Sounds like you might mean 20MOA and 40MOA. That depends on the distance you plan to shoot. With a 338 LaPua I'm thinking you want the rifle to be a reacher. YOu want at least 20 MOA if you're shooting 600 yards Plus, and probably 40 MOA if you plan on shootinh 1000 plus. Also, you need to take into consideration the internal MOA of your scope and how much of a range, yardage wise, you will plan to vary shots at.
Also, the 700 in 338 LaPua is a magnum action, so I believe it might not fit a standard long action base. You might need to go with a 2 piece base. The holes might also be drilled at 8-40 rather than 6-48. Leupold has the Mark 4 base in 20 MOA with 8-40 adaptable. Nightforce has one as well I believe.
