I bought an EOTech XPS2 and probably should have thought about a magnifier at that time but did not. The Eotech 3x is in the $500 range and there seem to be other alternatives like the Primary arms 3x and 6x that are in the $150 range. The Eotech seems very stout and would not mind buying it but I dont know much about the others like Primary Arms which seems to have a good rep on Calguns. What I dont want to do is buy cheap and then buy twice. Are there alternatives to Eotech in terms of quality and construction?

You are probably gonna get what you pay for. I would probably just save up the money and get the real deal. Mix and match doesnt cut it for me. Just IMHO. Gd luck. -
Save up for the real deal.
But I have heard and read good things about Primary Arms.

I would just save up for the real deal. It will be MUCH clearer than many of the other less expensive alternatives.
Not to mention that peace of mind is priceless... just my two cents.WTS: MOLLE Gear (ACU Med Pouch, ACU Ripstop Helmet Cover) - 03/17 - $20 - So Cal : http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...02#post8118602Comment

I have a primary arms 3x 3rd gen, it's clear it works great and is sturdy enough to take some abuse if it needed to. If your not going over seas or going to battle anytime soon just give it a try. And if you like it use the other 400 bucks or so to buy more ammo, more gear, or start another build. Just my .02's like everyone else.Comment

I got the VX3, much cheaper than an eotech. My only complaint is the eye relief isn't that great. I picked up the one with the swing mount from optics planet. I am happy with the overall quality of it, maybe another complaint would be the weight but I'm not sure of the overall weight with the swing arm compared to the 11 or so oz. eotech.

OP look into getting an Aimpoint 3x, imho much better than the EOtech magnifier in that the eye relief is longer and the glass seems to be more clear. They are also produced by Hensoldt/ Zeiss.
I have used both the EO and AP 3x mags with both an XPS3 and AP T1/ m3, and imo the Aimpoint seems to be a better magnifier. Hope that helps. Oh and for the money the PA magnifiers are pretty nice for a range toy.Автомат КалашниковаComment

When I was in the market for a magnifier, I pulled out everything we sell, and compared them. I settled on the Vortex VMX3 in the swing mount:

It's bright, clear and sharp, and the price is very reasonable. I wish Vortex offered both heights of the swing mount that ADM makes. Depending on the height of your BUIS when folded, there may be interference with the magnifier. My BUIS is a GG&G.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the Burris AR-Pivot ring:

Burris says "April".
It rotates to the side, similar to the FTS that Samson made for EOTech. The Vortex swing mount describes an arc.CalGunners: Take 5% off your order of $50 or more at OpticsPlanet by using coupon code CALGUNS! Some exclusions apply.

I have tried the Primary Arms 3x 3rd GEN and it work but the eye relief was only 1.5 inches (roughly) It have to be mounted at the last rail slot on the upper and failed to work with my Department required BUIS. Ended up returning it but not for lack of quality.Comment
