    AR 15 scope

I have 3 heavy barreled Remington 700's, two .308's and a .300 win mag. I have pretty decent optics on them, a Millet LRS, a Leupold Mark 4, and a Zeiss conquest that I got a good deal on. When I eventually buy a .338 I will be buying a good scope like one of those 3, but I have a dilema for optics on my new AR. I had been looking at the Leupold Mark AR, but I just dont have that much cash and I am not sure when I will. Today at the gun store a guy was trying to sell me a nc star mark 3 tactical with a quick detatch mount for $100. The scope looked decent when I looked at the buildings across the street, approximately 100 yards away. I figured for shooting "body" sized targets at 100-300 yards it would get the job done, plus I like the .223 elevation adjustments. I just dont know if I can bring myself to buy an nc star. Seems like everybody who has never had/used one calls them junk and the people that have them think they are decent, but again, I just dont know if I can buy one lol. Is there any other scopes between $100-200 that have the .223 adjustments like that that you guys would recommend? Thanks.

I put a Vortex Strikefire on a recent dissy build. $149 with the mount and it is rock solid. A ballistic reticle is really unnecessary out to 300 yards. Just sight-in about 2" high at 100 yards and you will be no more than 2-3" low at 300 yards. For a tactical firearm, that should be plenty accurate. And, if you've never used one, shooting a 1x red dot optic with both eyes open is something that has to be tried to be believed.

I have an EOTech on my wifes and I like it but I was looking for something with magnification too. I was looking at the Strikefire when I bought the EOTech, but I had plenty of extra cash then so I decided to try the EOTech. I suppose I could use a magnifier, I'll keep it in mind.

You don't need any .223 turrets for 100-300yds, 1/4moa adjustments are all you need for a good scope.

My 11 yo son can hit 400yd, 500yd, and 600yd steel plates the first time on using my Burris E1 3-9x40 scope with my 75gr Hornady HPBT handloads.

Check out the Burris, Redfields, Nikons, Weavers, all have a good lineup of good scopes with better quality, reputation... But, in case I haven't convinced you see below link.

This is new lineup - not out yet but exactly what you are specifiying
        Nikon P-223s

Take a look at the Weaver Kaspa line:

The guys from ATK came in a few months ago to show off this relatively new line. They don't have the calibrated turrets, but they are pretty solid scopes for the money.
