Need help with my scope obsession

My problem is that I have been looking at a US Optics scope ever since I purchased my rifle years ago. Of course the price tag is high, but to tell you the truth I have no logical reason to buy a scope of this caliber, lol. Where I live I can barely find a place to shoot past 200 yards, hahaha. But this scope is all I want. I've looked at Leupold and nightforce, but to tell you the truth I just want the US optics. I will be honest, I'm not a pro shooter, or have any dreams of being one. Can anyone give me any advice? I feel like I'm at an AA meeting.

That's the kind of encouragement I can only expect from a forum like this, hahaha.

What are you asking? Why you shouldnt buy the scope? Why you should? Ask your self this. Can you afford the scope? if the answer is yes then who care if you ever even use it. You want something so get it. The resale on these types of scopes is good so you wont lose to much money when you go to resell a slightly used scope. US optics are great. Be a man and make the decision for yourself!

Do you know anyone that has one? They are heavy and built like a tank. Before spending that much on a scope I'd recommending looking thru one first.

Which model of scope are you looking at? What are you looking to spend? (or trying to avoid spending)
What rifle will you be putting it on? Will you be hunting or just plinking?
If you are not shooting past 200-300yds then their lower power scopes are a bit less money. The SN4 1-4x and 1.5-6x are great for the shorter ranges. The fixed power scopes, like the ST6 and ST10, are great and even less money than the variable power scopes

                Go for it.
Then when your needs change you can sell it to me at a steep discount
I have found the wanting is better than the getting sometimes

I believe you should get the best piece of glass you can afford. If it ever comes down to it, high end glass holds its value REALLY well. BTW US-Optics can generally be had at quite a discount from their "retail" price.

I'm looking at the TPAL SN-3 3.8-17 for my Remington 700 in 308. Just for target shooting not hunting. I would like to do some long distance in the future for fun, no competition stuff. When I built the scope on the site it came out to just under 3K. I know they are in Brea, I'll probably stop bythere and have a talk with them before I buy. Thanks for all the replies.

Since you are not hunting, you should really consider a fixed power scope like the ST-10 or ST-17 if you are concerned about the price. You dont really need more than 10x of magnification to shoot 1000yds. (1x per 100yds is good)
Unless you are a magnification junkie and just like the higher power stuff.
Think about how often you will actually be using the scope at the lower power level. Probably not much

All that said, the 3.2-17 TPAL that you want is pretty fricken badazz
