No, that's not the brand name. My "optics" are OLD! I got them with my uncle's rifle as part of a package to shut me up so I didn't complain that the family didn't send me what they were supposed to. ANYWAY - I am talking about an old 20 power spotting scope. There's "Simpson Optical Mfg. Co. Chicago USA 20x" on the eyepiece. I did a brief search for Simpson Optical and I think they were bought up by some other firm which no longer markets the brand. They are not interested in servicing it.
If anyone who knows anything about this brand of optics could shed some light on them, even if only historical in nature, it would be appreciated. The thing needs some TLC in the form of cleaning and unfogging/sealing, because on the best day the image is pretty messed up, not at all clear like modern optics. The best thing I can say about it is that it still works and it's fun to break out an old toy when everybody else is consumed with new ones.
I am guessing that this is from the 50s, give or take 10 years. My uncle and aunt are both gone now, and their children (my cousins) are not real helpful, talkative or knowledgable about these things.
