    nikon 4-16 sf?

I have a savage 10fp in 308 20'' barrel that I wanted to put a scope on. While looking into it I noticed that it only has 40 moa of adjustment. I do have a 20 moa base. With the 20 moa base and only 40 moa internal adjustment will I be able to shoot long distances say 800-1000 yards? Also what about short distances 100-200 yards? I have also been looking at falcon optics scopes wich have listed 75 moa of adjustment, but only a one year warranty. Thanks in advance for your advice. edited**

I had a 4.5-14x40 with 50 moa and my concern was not being able to get a 100 yard zero. I wasn't planning on shooting past 500 yards since the gun was a 223. Depends on the load but my 155g scenar load in my remmy would need almost 30 moa to get to 1000. With a 20 moa base you may be cutting it short but depending on how many moa you need to zero you may need to hold under for 100.

Get another scope.. 40 MOA will probably get you into a little bit of trouble unless everything coincidentally works out. To get to 1000 yards with a standard 168 gr. match load coming out of a 20" barrel will require almost 40 MOA of adjustment alone assuming you're zeroed for 100 yds. Like Prc329 said.. you'll probably need to hold under at 100 yds. I'd go for the Falcon.
