    Leica or Bushnell Laser Rangefinder?

I know I can't go wrong with the Leica CRF 1200.. but since I don't feel like blowing $600.. anybody have any experience with the Bushnell Elite 1500 which can be had for $350?

My second option would be to pick up a used Leica LRF Scan 1200 for about $400 on Ebay.. but the Bushnell looks like it would be a good deal.

    Thoughts?

I've got a Bushnell 1200 and can usually get readings to 750 yds in bad conditions (measuring to brush etc.). It will read 1000+ yards to the white flat number boards of a 1000 yard range in good conditions and past that only with ideal conditions. I believe the same (maybe slightly better) would hold true for a Leica 1200.

The Leica is much better. It will range further and on smaller targets than the Bushnell 1200 will.

The Bushnell 1500 is a good rangefinder that people compare with the Leica LRF. But its beam divergence is greater than the Leica, which can lead to false readings at extended ranges. Have you checked out this article?

The Leica is far better. It is more accurate & will range farther.

I love my Leica LRF 1200. Clear glass and it range 1200 yards accurately.

I have a Bushnell 800c and the issue that I have with it is that the open type reticle is too large to pinpoint exactly what you're aiming at past 400 yards or so.

Ranging antelope at 400 yards it was hard to know if I was really ranging the lope and not something else out there.

The Bushnell Elite 1500 LRF's are simply excellent. Very bright, clear optics edge-to-edge, made in Japan as well. I can easily range paper targets out past 1000yds all day. I have ranged buildings out past 1500yds and coyotes past 1200yds. Their bull-eye and clutter modes work as advertised. They are larger than the Leica's and I find the Bushnell easier to hand-hold while ranging longer distances. When I am in the field, the Elites double as my binoculars due to their large objective lens size, they also use standard 9volt batteries instead of button cells.

You can't go wrong with either one.

I just got a Leica CRF1200 on eBay for $530.
There were some going as cheap as $500.

Even if you get outbid, there are sellers making 2nd chance offers right at $500.

                      Get the Leica.
You will be glad you did.
