    Nikon Reticles - Some Questions

I'm in the process of doing some major 'scope cleansing.' Now that I'm in this hobby to stay, I'll be replacing all my scopes with some new decent ones. I'm going to be sticking with Nikons.

The three reticles I'm looking at are the BDC 600, Niko Plex (looks like a duplex), and the Mil Dot (seems available only on their high end Monarch X).

What place in shooting does each of these have? Here's how I understand them.......please add or correct mee where needed.

    1) BDC 600 is more for plates, plinking, or known distances?

    2) Niko Plex is better for groups?

    3) Mil Dot needs to be learned but is the most versatile and can be used for estimating distances?

I'm asking because my different rifles are for different purposes and types of shooting.......so I need to choose the right reticles.

    Thanks

The Nikoplex and the BDC are primarily Hunting scopes that will work in a pinch for targets, the BDC would be the better. The Mill dot is a Target scope but can and is used for Hunting as well, the BDC dots I think are larger than the Mill dots so for true MOA accuracy would not be a strong choice. I have the BDC and it's great for what I do Hunting/taget, the BDC dots are set for specific distances.Tho not spot on for all applications I have found them close enough. All scope rets can be used to range distance you just have to learn it.
