    1-4x Scope and Mount - AR/ACR

Alright, I have the scope choice narrowed down for my flat top AR and my ACR. I'm getting 2 Nikon M-223's like in the pic:

It now comes down to mounts.

On the AR, I'll use a PEPR mount (or similar). But the ACR doesn't require that type of mount, so it will get rings. Question is, can I use rings that are lower than the 1" high PEPR? Or does thescope eye relief not allow the scope to hug the rail?

    Any input is appreciated.

extra high rings place your eye at the correct position when you have a good cheek weld

      +1 for Pennys Dad.

All telescopic optics on a flat top AR, no matter what objective lens diameter, use extra-high rings.

Because the barrel is parallel with the stock, and the original rifle design had the sights in the carry handle, it is necessary to use the extra-high rings so that you can see through the scope - otherwise, you cannot get your eye low enough to see through the sight. A traditional rifle has a "drop" to the stock comb, and can use much lower rings, but on a flat top AR, it's extra-high.

Thank you both for your replies. Very helpful.

Any input for the same scope on an ACR? It won't require the cantilever style mount, so rings it is. Question is, what height? Hopefully lower will work since it would be better looking.

The stock slopes down a tad on the ACR.
