M1A sight markings

Per the Duff/Miller zeroing paper for M1A’s a sight calibrated in meters has an “M” on it. Where would the “M” be?

I have also read that if the elevation drum has an 11 on it it’s calibrated in meters, a 12 means that it’s calibrated in yards. The highest number on my elevation drum is 11 however I cannot find an M anywhere.

Same here on my new M1A, i just assumed it was in yards and someone typed it up wrong. As I have 11 and no M anywhere on the rifle.

Yards it is until proven otherwise.

If you are looking for the "M" it is normally on where all the numbers are. Most likely your is in yard, unless you have one of those older(95ish and older) m1a which used left over USGI parts, that have mixed meter and yard sight.

My 203xx circa 2005 has 'M' on elevation. I believe it's not meters, but Mechanical Zero. Personally I never use it, just go all the way down, and for scouts 14 clicks up.
