    Sorry, Another 'Which Scope' Thread

Alright guys, I have things narrowed down. The guns in question are a 16" AR, an ACR, and a 20" Bull barrel AR set up as a precision rifle.

I mainly shoot at a range but would consider competition down the road. The 16" rifles would be used between 50yds and 200yds. The 20" rifle would be consistantly used up to 300yds, but up to 600 on rare occasion.

I was considering a TA031 ACOG and moving it around between the different rifles,

    OR

a Nikon M223 on each rifle with mounts (the lower power Nikon on each of the carbines, the higher power Nikon on the 20" rifle). This choice would still be cheaper, I believe, than one ACOG.

    Thx for any advice.

The guys with ARs where I live and shoot seem to really like the Burris small Tac scope.A few got it from Midway for $300.It is a red circle with a red dot.I liked it also for up to 200yds.I am getting older and need/want magnification at 300-600 and beyond. My ARs,a 16"heavy barrel 223,I run a Burris Euro Diamond,30mm tube,3-10.My Heavy 24" barreled 204,I run a Burris Signature 6-24.I have another 20" light M4 style 223 upper that has a Zeiss Conquest 3-9.I sound biased to Burris and Zeiss.Yes/No.After a lot of experiments, these combos just work.Recently I went cheap with a Simmons Predator Quest 30mm.It is a good scope and backed by Bushnell.I have a few Nikon Monarchs and Buckmasters on hunting rifles. They are clear scopes scopes.I have no time with a Acog and probably will not buy one,but I do see other folks use for one.I need the magnification.

The acog would be tough at 600. I know I did it myself. The more range the more power needed to get good hits. You can do 700 with an acog but its not easy and the hits are not 100%.

Here is the view at 650yds. Its that little dot at the BDc's 650 yard mark on the left. When the sun went behind a cloud I could not see the target anymore.

How do you like the ACOG at 300?

I guess it's a question of convenience, too. If I can get three scopes mounted for less than one ACOG (which would have to be switched around), I guess I'm asking if the ACOG is really all that and a bag o' chips? (did I really just say that?)

Also depends on your bank. If you want to stick with trijicon, consider the accupoint line. The 1.25-4x30 can be used anywhere from CQ to 300yds no problem, with a larue

At 300 on torso targets no problemo. If you want to shoot one hole groups at 300 big problem.

Here is a torso target at 200 with an Acog. Keep in mind I have the horse shoe dot not the cross hair model which would be more accurate.

              Mine in circle, slowfire shooting

Rapidfire at 200yds, the drop from dot to neck is the bullet drop at 200.
