    Exchanging Ruger Scope Mounts

My Ruger Mini-14 came with 1" scope rings, but I have a 30mm scope. Ruger lets you trade in your scope rings; you mail them in and they send you out new ones that fit your scope.

Has anyone done this? Is it as simple as their website says? And how long does it take?

    Thanks in advance.

I have done it twice for higher rings. As long as they were still new and in the package,it was easy as that.

Thanks for the reply. I found one of my friends who exchanged his scope rings. It worked out fine for him too. He said it takes about two weeks, plus a week shipping there and a week shipping back. So in a month I'll have my new scope rings.

Back in the day (late 80's) when you called Ruger, they sent the new rings out and said to keep the old ones. Ran across a set of 1" rings last night in a drawer, and was reminded of that.

Fortunately, Ruger scope rings are available online for about the same price as other quality brands. I'd want to keep the original set, just in case, especially if I had more than one Ruger firearm that takes those rings.
