Need help on picking a scope mount for AR-15

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to sell my Vortex red dot and switch to a scope mounted on my Daniel Defense DDXV mid length AR. I know that I'll never use it for home defense as I have handguns and others for that. I end up shooting open iron sights mostly but have realized I'd like to have a scope on it.

I have a detachable rear sight (from DD) and the front sight is a standard fixed sight.

The scope I've been looking at is the Leupold Mark AR 3x9 as it seems highly recommended and of good quality. The mounts I've seen from Larue & American Defense both seem top quality. It's sad the mounts cost almost as much as the scope but that's just how things go.

I'm only into this price range as my other option was a Aimpoint Micro T-1 with mounts etc... Cost is close to the same.

Will either one of mounts be fine with a fixed front sight base? I know I'll have to remove my rear sight which is fine with me and keep it just in case. I'm sure it will hold it's zero close enough for me when placed back on. Just wondering if the scope will clear the front sight or cause any problems while trying to aim with it.

You will be fine with any of those mounts. The scope doesn't need to clear the front sight or anything. If you get the Mark AR that you are talking about, you won't even see the front sight when you look through the scope at 3x.

I'm looking to sell a Mark AR 3-9x40 with mil dot reticle and LaRue mount. Send me a PM if you're interested.

the QD system on the ADM mount is very nice -- quick to adjust, easy to detach, holds zero well. the unusual proprietary ring system is rock-solid.

QD lever and release button on the Bobro is a work of art. No adjustments needed what so ever and its built like a rock. I have one on my LMT MWS and its amazing. However, their customer service is not up to par. They shipped out my box to my office without a suite # and bobro couldnt find my shipping slip. They wouldnt pick up my phone calls and I had to wait a week for them to correct their mistake.

I also have larue mount for my acog and their mounts are rock solid too. Their customer service is amazing. I recently ordered another mount directly with larue and they sent me an armadillo bottle opener, 2 x bumper sticker, and dry rub for free. Awesome.

+1 for Bobro. That is what I have decided to buy. The Vortex PST is my list too.
